NEW DELHI: The BJP on Tuesday tore into AAP chief and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal , accusing him of “failing miserably” in tackling the national capital’s pollution crisis, from the Yamuna’s toxic waters to Delhi’s choking air.
BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya led the charge, taking a swipe at Kejriwal’s academic background. Posting on X, he wrote, “Arvind Kejriwal loved flaunting his IIT degree — but when it came to governance, he failed miserably. From cleaning the Yamuna to tackling Delhi’s deadly pollution, he delivered only excuses.”
Malviya further hit out at the AAP chief over his controversial liquor policy , saying, “His corrupt and disastrous liquor policy ruined families, while Delhi’s roads, schools and hospitals were left to decay.”
Drawing a sharp contrast, Malviya added, “In contrast, the BJP government has cleaned the Yamuna in just 8 months and is now using cloud seeding for artificial rain to fight pollution -- much of which comes from AAP-ruled Punjab. This is what real governance looks like -- results, not rhetoric.”
Meanwhile, the Delhi government under BJP’s Rekha Gupta in its broader strategy to fight air pollution planned - artificial rain through cloud seeding to improve air quality during the smog-heavy winter months.
Cloud seeding operations were carried out over Burari, North Karol Bagh, Bhojpur, Mayur Vihar, and Sadakpur areas, with humidity levels in clouds hovering around 15–20%. Light rainfall was expected between 5 and 6 pm -- a new attempt to wash away the capital’s annual haze.
