NEW DELHI: BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya on Monday launched a sharp attack on Rahul Gandhi , calling him a "certified anti-national" after the Supreme Court criticised the Congress leader for allegedly making defamatory remarks against the Indian Army , stating that a "true Indian won’t make such statements."
Reacting after Supreme Court’s observations, Amit Malviya took to X, stating, “Rahul Gandhi is now a certified anti-national.”
The BJP IT cell chief alleged that Rahul sought “support from foreign powers” during the 2024 elections . “In the run-up to 2024, he sought support from foreign powers to dislodge a democratically elected Indian government. He has signed a secret MoU with the Communist Party of China — details of which remain hidden from the public. Shortly thereafter, the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation received donations from the Chinese state, and went on to author a report that recommended opening India’s economy to Chinese interests,” Malviya said.
He further accused Rahul of siding with China during a critical national security moment. “During the Galwan face-off, when India was defending its sovereignty, Rahul Gandhi chose to receive a briefing from Chinese officials instead of Indian diplomats. He routinely makes baseless and demoralising remarks about the Indian Army — statements that are amplified by adversaries,” he alleged.
Malviya also claimed that during multiple visits to the West, Rahul met groups and individuals hostile to India and “often echoed narratives designed to undermine India’s global image and obstruct its rise as a major power.”
Referring to the Supreme Court’s remarks while staying the defamation case against Rahul, Malviya said, “Now, the Supreme Court’s stinging observation has only validated what Bharat has been saying all along.”
Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court stayed the defamation case against Rahul but advised him to make statements responsibly in Parliament rather than on social media. The court asked him the basis for his remarks, saying, "How do you get to know that 2000 sq km land was occupied by Chinese, if you are true Indian, you wouldn’t say such a thing." It further told him, "You are Leader of Opposition. Say things in Parliament, why do you have say it on social media?" PTI quoted the court as saying.
