China's DeepSeek that created havoc in the US tech industry is hiring for an 'urgent' job

Send Push
Chinese AI startup DeepSeek has posted an urgent job listing for product management and design roles, signaling a strategic pivot from pure research toward commercialization of its advanced language models. The company is seeking candidates in Beijing and Hangzhou to create the "next generation of intelligent product experience" centered on large language models.

According to Business Insider, this hiring push represents a major shift for the company that disrupted AI markets earlier this year with its low-cost reasoning model R1, which allegedly rivals OpenAI's GPT-4 at a fraction of the cost. The job notice specifies that candidates should have product management experience and be proficient in product and visual design.

DeepSeek looking to hire executives as it soon launches it’s second-generation flagship model
DeepSeek is simultaneously seeking to fill C-suite positions including a chief financial officer and chief operating officer, while continuing to expand its research and engineering teams. The company is also preparing to launch its R2 model in the coming weeks.

Founded in 2023 by Liang Wenfeng , DeepSeek has distinguished itself by releasing open-source models under permissive MIT licenses, making them freely available for download, modification, and integration. This contrasts sharply with American competitors that typically maintain closed-source models monetized through APIs or enterprise licensing.

The company's models have already been integrated into major Chinese tech platforms, with Tencent deploying DeepSeek R1 across WeChat and Baidu incorporating it into its search engine.
