Protect Parasnath Hills: HC to state

Send Push

Ranchi: The Jharkhand high court on Friday directed the state govt to comply with the directions of the Union ministry of environment with regards to maintaining the Parasnath Hills in the Giridih district of the state.

The court also directed the Giridih SP to deploy more home guard constables to ensure that the Parasnath Hills are protected and perpetrators are stopped from littering and selling non-vegetarian food products in the vicinity. The court passed the directive while hearing a PIL filed by Jyot, an organisation of believers of Jainism which had informed the court that a lot of encroachments have happened in the Parasnath Hills — the most revered site of pilgrimage for Jain followers across the country. The case will again be heard on July 21.
