Jhansi: An hour-long, detailed mock drill comprising a number of activities for safety in case of any emergency was conducted at police lines on Wednesday by civil defence members in the presence of administrative officials and NCC cadets.
Emergency situations were created during the drill, such as abrupt fire, air raids, and shelling situations, while the civil defence sleuths acted as a quick response team for handling these adverse circumstances. Hand-held mechanical sirens were blown several times to denote an emergency. In addition, the fire-fighting team and medical aid workers also participated in the drill. It was also announced that a brief blackout of ten minutes would be observed in parts of cities during the night.
SSP Jhansi BBGTS Murthy said that similar drills would be repeated in the coming days to judge the preparedness to handle any kind of emergency situation. "We are planning to circulate the videos of today's drill widely to make more and more people aware of standard operating procedures to be adopted in case of emergency."
DM Jhansi Mridul Chaudhary appealed to people to not to panic or fear and said that the drill was being conducted for preparedness to tackle emergency situations.
