Coimbatore: Peelamedu police on Sunday arrested two TVK cadres for damaging DMK party flags in the city. The arrested cadres were later let off on bail.
Based on a complaint from DMK functionary S Vignesh, the Peelamedu police registered a case against the TVK cadres - K Chellamuthu, 26, and M Manoj Kumar, 21, both from Devachinnampatti near Oddanchathiram in Dindigul district - under sections 292 and 324 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) act.
Chellamuthu and Manoj allegedly damaged DMK flags and flagpoles near the Coimbatore airport on Saturday, after TVK leader Vijay left the airport. Peelamedu police have also registered a separate case against TVK Coimbatore district secretary Sampathkumar for unlawful assembly and negligent driving on road by TVK cadres.
