If you enjoy reading books on an e-reader but think your current device might be getting a little long in the tooth, today could be the best time to invest in a long-term replacement. Amazon Prime Day is upon us for 2025, and Amazon has taken it on itself to heavily discount its biggest and best Kindle, the Amazon Scribe, and it's a deal that's even better than we'd been hoping for.

The very newest generation Amazon Kindle Scribe is on sale for £279.99, a stunning £100 discount on its £379.99 RRP. That's the cheapest the Scribe has ever sold for on Amazon, with price comparison site Camelcamelcamel confirming so.

As with all Prime Day deals, you need to be an Amazon Prime subscriber to access this special price. Luckily, you may be entitled to a free 30-day trial.

The newest, second-generation Kindle Scribe launched in December 2024 with a new design and updated software. It has a 10.2-inch screen making it the largest Kindle, great if you want the biggest display possible for reading on, but it's also this size for a reason. The Scribe doubles up as a notebook, allowing you to create your own E Ink notebooks for personal or work use.

That's why the Scribe comes with a stylus pen in the box. Not only can you make notes, you can also make notes within e-books bought from the Kindle Store. This is great if you like to scribble as you read for pleasure or research, and a real boon if you're studying texts on your Kindle for school or university.

The size isn't just about the screen. The Scribe has the best battery life of any Kindle, promising up to 12 weeks based on half an hour of reading per day, even with the backlight on. You charge the Kindle via USB-C, and there's a cable in the box but no charger.

Amazon recently updated the software on the Scribe, which you will get for free. This includes AI-powered notebook summarisation, which can distil pages of handwritten notes into word-processed text summaries, handy for breaking down notes from a meeting or capturing your long-term thoughts in a few paragraphs.

The update also lets you take notes in the margins of e-books or write a sticky note to attach anywhere on the page, which will bump the words to flow around the note.

Amazon tells us this deal is running all of Prime Day, which is July 8 to July 11, but it's only while stocks last. If you prefer, Amazon is also discounting all of its other Kindle models, which you can view here:
