The UK looks set for a hot weather scorcher in just a few days' time with top temperatures hitting 33C for some. Weather maps from WXCharts show the South of England, Midlands, East Anglia and eastern parts of Wales basking in 30-33C by 6pm on Wednesday (August 13).

Further north, the mercury reaches a maximum of 25C in Cumbria, 24C in Yorkshire and 27C in North West Wales. The UK weather maps show it will be cooler by the coast and in Scotland where temperatures range from 20C around Aberdeenshire and 20C in the Stirling area. It's a similar picture the following day, with the southern half of Britain seeing highs between 30C and 33C, and the northern half 21C to 29C, according to WXCharts' maps. Netweather's forecast shows a top temperature of 33C at 1pm next Tuesday (August 12) but notes it will feel like 37C. It looks like it will be a warm night for sleeping as well, with Netweather forecasting 22C at 1am on the same date.

While WXCharts shows 33C on August 13, Netweather currently expects the highest temperature will be 27C at 4pm on the same date.

Senior Forecaster, Nick Finnis, said high pressure will build in from the southwest over the weekend, bringing drier and sunnier conditions for many.

He said temperatures will reach 27C in London on Sunday, 25C in Cardiff and the low 20Cs further north. Mr Finnis added very warm air pulled north across the south of the UK early next week could lead to a heatwave here.

The weather expert said: "Eventually high pressure will migrate to east of the UK by the middle of next week. This combined with an upper trough and low pressure moving in to the west will serve to potentially pull in some very warm air from the south off a hot near continent next week."

The Met Office's long-range weather forecast for August 12-21 says: "The rather changeable pattern of preceding days will likely still be in place across northwestern areas of the UK at first.

"Further southeast, predominantly fine, with a spell of hot weather looking increasingly likely at the start of this period.

"Much of England could see high temperatures for at least a couple of days and there is a possibility that the heat could last further into the week, especially in the south, where there is also the possibility of some thunderstorms.

"Beyond this, probably a resumption of widely somewhat cooler, fresher conditions, with a lot of dry weather to be had in the south under the influence of high pressure. Meanwhile a rather more changeable and breezier theme will continue further to the north."
