Following a telephone report, authorities suspected the presence of an armed man holed up in an apartment in the area. During the police operation, part of the neighborhood was locked down, particularly around Rue Maurice-Maccario, while some car accesses were blocked in Pasteur Hospital. According to BFM Nice Côte d'Azur, a person was arrested in the middle of the afternoon in an apartment and awas also found.
The police operation is now over, but the investigation and initial investigations will begin.
Due to the lockdown, significant traffic jams began to form throughout eastern Nice, with delays lasting up to 30 minutes in the Peasteur Nice-Est sector.
On X, Police Nationale 06 wrote: "A police operation is underway in the Pasteur district of Nice. Please avoid the area and do not share unofficial information."
In an updated shared at 3:35pm BST, they said that there is no longer a danger in the area but added: " Please continue to avoid the Pasteur district".
