Fortnite Blitz Royale Avatar Returns release date and new gameplay rules

Fortnite fans are counting down to the release of a new Blitz Royale ruleset, which introduces Avatar: The Last Airbender gameplay.

Blitz Royale is a new limited time game mode that runs until July 15. Perfect for mobile play, Blitz Royale matches last for around five minutes and feature ever-evolving gameplay.

Indeed, each week Epic Games will introduce a new twist to the formula, including a Last Airbender theme for week two.

Blitz Royale's The Avatar Returns event has a June 24 release date on all platforms.

Running for a week, the Avatar Returns Blitz Royale event sees players start with the Bending Scroll from the series.

"Pagodas from the Four Nations appear on the map, and players start with a Bending Scroll from Avatar: The Last Airbender," Epic explains.

New gameplay will be introduced next week, when the Bad Bosses event starts of July 1.

According to Epic Games, Bending Scrolls will be replaced by power-packed boss weapons like Thorne's Vampiric Blade and the new Blitz Chain of Hades.

Finally, beginning on July 8, fans will be treated to a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles event in Blitz Royale.

TMNT Melee Mayhem introduces melee weapons from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, plus Megalo Don's Nitro Fists, the Mythic Typhoon Blade, Blitz Kneecapper, and more.

If you haven't already played it, Blitz Royale is a 32-person game mode in which all players start with the same random Medallion or unique weapon on a small map.

Players can increase their Blitz Levels by eliminating opponents and surviving Storm circles.

Epic explains more: "As you level up, get powerful weapons and power-ups. Loot Golden Chests for even more power-ups and Golden Supply Drops for even more Medallions."

If you earn ten Account Levels in Fortnite or secure top ten finish in 20 different Blitz Royale matches, you'll unlock the Blitz Knight Outfit. It's available until July 15.
