Boston Blue, the eagerly awaited spin-off of Blue Bloods, is set to continue the Reagan family legacy after the police crime drama was cancelled in December 2024.
Fans are keenly anticipating the release date and eager to follow in the footsteps of Danny Reagan (played by Donnie Wahlberg).
The anticipation for the Blue Bloods spin-off has been building, with speculation rife about who might make an appearance.
Here's everything you need to know ahead of Boston Blue's debut.
Boston Blue will premiere on Friday, October 17, on CBS, at 10pm ET and 9pm CT.
For those catching up on Boston Blue via Paramount+, the debut episode will be released the following day, Saturday, October 18.
At the heart of Boston Blue is Blue Bloods icon Donnie Wahlberg, reprising his role as Danny Reagan.
He will be joined by Detective Lena Silver star Sonequa Martin-Green, best known for her roles as Michael Burnham in Star Trek: Discovery and Sasha Williams in The Walking Dead.
Fox's Lethal Weapon actress Maggie Lawson will portray BPD's Superintendent Sarah Silver, Ghostbusters' Ernie Hudson will play Reverend Peters, while ER's Gloria Reuben will take on the role of Mae Silver.
Danny's son Sean Reagan, originally portrayed by actor Andrew Terraciano in Blue Bloods, has been recast with Whistle actor Mika Amonsen stepping into the role.
Blue Bloods original star Bridget Moynahan, who fans adore, is set to make a comeback as Danny's sister Erin Reagan-Boyle.
It's been confirmed that Erin will feature in the first episode of Boston Blue, but it remains unclear if she'll be making further appearances.
The official trailer for Boston Blue was unveiled last month, beginning with a scene of Danny fleeing from his new partner, Detective Lena Silver.
She aims a gun at him, mistaking Danny for a suspect, until he reveals that he's actually a police officer on the hunt for a criminal.
Lena mentions his "a reputation", to which he responds: "Yeah. For getting things done."
After being invited to dinner, Lena's grandfather Ernie reassures Danny: "We are one family and we have faith in our family."
As Boston Blue kicks off, viewers will see Danny and Lena join forces to probe a fatal fire at a tech company.
However, as they dig deeper into their investigation, they unravel "a complex web of secrets involving facial recognition technology and family ties that draws their families closer together".
While embarking on his own career in Boston, Danny is also attempting to reconnect with his son Sean, who is beginning his own journey in law enforcement.
Boston Blue premieres on Friday, October 17, on CBS and Paramount+.
