The Celebrity Traitors has reportedly already been greenlit for a second series – even before the star-studded first season has hit screens.
A second instalment of the celebrity spin-off of the smash-hit BBC One show is already "a done deal", despite series one yet to air. “The official message is that a formal recommission depends how well series one does, but in reality it’s all but a done deal,” a source said.
Set to launch on Wednesday, the new celebrity version will see 19 household names – including Paloma Faith, Alan Carr and Kate Garraway – descend on Claudia Winkleman’s now-iconic Scottish castle, all battling to win £100,000 for charity. The Traitors has already dominated ratings not just in the UK but around the world. “The Celebrity Traitors is landing at the very peak of the format's popularity, it's the biggest show on the box, globally, and the cast is exceptional,” the source continued to The Sun.

“Everyone knows something would have gone incredibly wrong if this didn't become the TV event of the year.”
The news comes as host Claudia Winkleman recently admitted she was less than keen on the celebrity twist when it was first suggested.
“I was scared,” she confessed. “Only because I’m in love with this show and I wanted to keep it small. Once a year or maybe once every two years felt like enough. My bosses, thank goodness, ignored everything I said.”
Now preparing to front the series with some new famous faces, Claudia said she found her role more challenging than ever. “It was scarier, because all I wanted to do was chat to them and make them like me,” she said. “But of course, I have to be extremely unlikeable. It was tricky!”
And the lineup clearly made an impression on the presenter. “When I talked to Stephen Fry I almost welled up,” she admitted. “I told him this was my dream. I could barely breathe when I saw them all in the Highlands. I’m such a fan of every single one of them. The whole team were just in awe, it was hard not to scream, ‘You’re here!’”
A Traitors Spokesperson said, "It would be foolhardy for any faithful to foreshadow what the future could entail."
The Celebrity Traitors airs this Wednesday on BBC One.
