Netflix's 'greatest rom-com' lands UK release date - and fans don't have long to wait

An eagerly anticipated Netflix series, predicted to be the next big hit on the streaming platform, has just been given a release date - and fans won't have to wait long.

With the producers of Love Actually involved and Girls creator Lena Dunham directing, excitement for Too Much has been steadily growing.

British GQ even hinted it could dethrone Nobody Wants This as the streaming giant's "greatest romcom" yet.

This week, keen viewers were finally treated to a sneak peek at the 10-episode series, along with the news everyone has been waiting for: its release date.

Too Much centres around New York workaholic Jessica (played by Hacks star Megan Stalter) who decides to move to London after a heart-wrenching break up. Here she encounters Felix (The White Lotus' Will Sharpe), who disrupts her plans for a solitary life.

As a bond starts to form, their emerging romance faces its own hurdles, reports .

The official synopsis states: "Jessica (Megan Stalter) is a New York workaholic in her mid-thirties, reeling from a broken relationship that she thought would last forever and slowly isolating everyone she knows. When every block in New York tells a story of her own bad behaviour, the only solution is to take a job in London, where she plans to live a life of solitude like a Bronte sister.

"But when she meets Felix (Will Sharpe) – a walking series of red flags – she finds that their unusual connection is impossible to ignore, even when it creates more problems than it solves. Now they have to ask themselves: do Americans and Brits actually speak the same language? From the creator of Girls and the producers of Love Actually. Too Much is and ex-pat rom-com for the disillusioned who wonder if true love is still possible, but sincerely hope that it is."

The show boasts a star-studded cast including model and Gone Girl actress Emily Ratajkowski, Top Boy's Adwoa Aboah, and Saltburn's own Richard E. Grant.

Other recognisable faces include Stephen Fry (The Dropout), Daisy Bevan (The Alienist), and comedian Leo Reich.

Dunham takes on the role of executive producer alongside her husband Luis Felber and Love Actually producers Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner. Also joining as executive producers are Michael P. Cohen, Surian Fletcher-Jones, and Girls writer and executive producer Bruce Eric Kaplan.

With the release date set for Thursday, 10th July on the streaming platform, fans won't have to wait much longer.

Dunham previously shared with : "This is a show that is very close to my heart - created with my husband Luis, cast with my favourite actors - the geniuses that are Meg and Will, along with a bevy of friends - and partnering again with Working Title, who are behind the romantic comedies that formed me."

She went on to say: "Netflix has been so deeply supportive of the vision, which is to create a romantic comedy that makes us root for love, brings joy but also has the jagged edges of life."

Too Much will be released Thursday, 10th July on Netflix.
