Coronation Street has signed up former Byker Grove and Hollyoaks star Andrew Hayden-Smith, who is set to join the soap in an upcoming Todd Grimshaw storyline. Regular viewers of the ITV soap will be aware that Todd Grimshaw is unwittingly trapped in a manipulative relationship with his partner, Theo Silverton.
Their budding Corrie romance has faced its fair share of hurdles, and after fans voiced their worries about Theo, his behaviour has become increasingly controlling. He was spotted attempting to isolate Todd from his close mates, Billy Mayhew and Sarah Platt, before the abuse escalated to physical violence for the first time, with Theo cornering Todd at the kitchen sink and forcing him to eat a kebab.
In upcoming episodes, Corrie fans will witness Todd reaching breaking point due to Theo's manipulative antics. Secretly anxious about his test results, Todd confides in George Shuttleworth that he's starting to make arrangements for his own funeral, which leaves George unsettled.

Following Christina Boyd's suggestion, George checks Todd's emails and discovers one from the hospital confirming an appointment. Christina encourages George to accompany Todd and offer his support.
Meanwhile, at the Bistro, Gary Windass and Theo Silverton sit down with Pete to discuss a potential contract. Spotting Billy Mayhew and Summer Spellman, Theo heads over and tells them he's worried about Todd and fears there's something he's not telling him, leaving Billy to squirm.
At the hospital, in the waiting room, Todd is grateful to have George there as he heads in to see the doctor. When Billy takes a call from Todd, he dashes outside so he can hear and at the next table, Theo masks his fury and orders shots.
The following a day, nursing a hangover, Todd heads home to face the wrath of Theo. As he apologises to Theo for staying the night at Billy's, he swears nothing happened but is shocked when Pete emerges from the bathroom.
Theo's unrepentant, accusing Todd of sneaking around behind his back for days. Eventually, Todd comes clean about his health scare but when Theo twists the situation and tries to blame Todd, Todd finally snaps and orders him to pack his bags.
And it's Pete who is being played by former Hollyoaks and Byker Grove star Andrew Hayden-Smith. The actor previously portrayed villainous police detective Gavin Armstrong in the Channel 4 soap in 2016 and 2017, but he's also recognised for his parts in Byker Grove, Doctor Who, Cucumber and Banana.
Taking to Instagram to confirm his upcoming guest role, Andrew posted a picture of himself outside the famous Rovers Return and said: "Off to Weatherfield... BRB. Catch me on the cobbles as Pete Lang soon! #Corrie."
He was swiftly inundated with messages of support. TV presenter Angellica Bell exclaimed: "FINALLY....I CAN START CHATTING ABOUT IT!" Rylan Clark responded with a hearty: "Congrats mate!" Hollyoaks' Nadine Mulkerrin chimed in with: "Corrie just got hotter! ! ! ! !" Drag star and Celebrity Big Brother finalist Danny Beard added his approval, stating: "Love this."
