India on Saturday announced the resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from June after a gap of five years and is also seen as part of efforts by India and China to improve ties.

The two countries completed the withdrawal of troops at two points of Demchok and Depsang under an agreement in October last year. The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra organised by the Ministry of External Affairs is scheduled to take place during June to August 2025.

5 batches will go through Lipulekh pass

The Ministry of External Affairs said that this year, five batches consisting of 50 yatris each and 10 batches consisting of 50 yatris each are scheduled to undertake the journey via Lipulekh Pass from Uttarakhand and via Nathu La Pass from Sikkim respectively.

Application for the trip can be made on the website kmy.gov.in. The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra has not taken place since 2020 due to the Corona epidemic and subsequent non-renewal of travel arrangements by China.

It was announced after official consultations between the foreign ministries of India and China in Beijing last month that work is underway to finalise modalities for resuming the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
