Chandigarh: Punjab police on Thursday claimed to have arrested two operatives of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module and recovered two grenades and pistol recovered from them, in Ferozepur area, on the eve of Independence Day.
In another development, the state police also claimed to have nabbed two members of Lawrence Bishnoi gang, who were wanted in 15 heinous crime cases registered in Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan and Gujarat.
Terror Plot Foiled, Accused Identified
Stating that police had successfully foiled a major terror plot being orchestrated by Pak-ISI backed terrorist Harwinder Rinda with the arrest of two operatives of BKI terror module, Director General of Police (DGP), Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, said that the accused have been identified as Harpreet Singh, a resident of Tarn Taran, and Gulshan Singh of Amritsar. Police teams have recovered two 86P hand grenades and one 9MM pistol along with five live cartridges from their possession.

Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Members Nabbed
In another development, police arrested two most-wanted operatives of Lawrence Bishnoi gang from Patiala-Ambala Highway near village Shambhu and recovered an Austria-made 9mm Glock pistol along with six live cartridges from their possession.
Gang Operatives Linked to Foreign Handlers
DGP Yadav said that the accused have been identified as Akshay Delu and Ankit Bishnoi alias Kakkar, both residents of Fazilka district. They were operating on the instructions of their foreign-based handlers identified as Anmol Bishnoi and Arzoo Bishnoi, he said.

He said that both the accused have a criminal history with over 15 heinous crime cases pertaining to murder, attempt to murder, extortion, Arms Act and NDPS Act registered against them in Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan and Gujarat. They were also wanted in the recent murder of Bharat Ratan alias Vicky which took place in Fazilka on May 2, 2025, he added.
