Thane: A man who was externed from Thane was brutally attacked with a sharp weapon by a group of fifteen people over old rivalry in Thane on Saturday night. The injured has been identified as Sohel Khan, a resident of Thane who was externed from the city and had been living in Nashik.
As per the FIR, the injured Khan arrived in Thane to meet his grandmother, who is admitted to the Civil hospital in Thane on Saturday. Later, he went to meet his friends in Thane. The police sources said that the complaint was filed by Afrin Shaikh, a sister of the injured Khan.
She stated in the FIR that she received a call from Bhavesh Dhotre, who mentioned that Khan was lying in an injured condition near Mamata Garage in Thane. Following this, she promptly rushed to the spot and found that the accused—Lokesh Gaikar, Tejash Gaikar, Viraj Kokate, Yash Rokade, Sujal, and ten unknown individuals—were allegedly beating her brother brutally with a wooden stick and an edge weapons. Later, they fled the scene.
The police sources said that the locals rushed to the spot and later he was sent to a nearby hospital where his treatment is ongoing. Khan suffered serious injuries to his head and body and received 45 stitches. The police said that an FIR has been filed against them under sections 118(2), 189(2), 190, and 191(2) of Bharatiya Nayi Sanhita.
Abhay Mahajan, Senior Police Inspector from Naupada Police Station, said, "During the primary probe, it was found that a total of five bodily offenses have already been registered againt the injured Khan at the police station, and he is also under externment from the city. The injured and the accused have an old enmity, which led to the accused brutally attacking the injured. We have launched a manhunt for the accused. So far, we have registered an FIR against them."
