The violence followed the discovery of cow carcasses near Mahav village, prompting protesters to storm Chingrawathi police outpost. They set vehicles ablaze, leading to escalating chaos. During the riot, Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh and 19‑year‑old Sumit Kumar were fatally shot while attempting to control the mob.

Five Found Guilty of Murder, Sentenced to Life
After nearly 6 years, 7 months, and 27 days, the court convicted five individuals (Prashant Nat, Rahul, David, Lokendra Singh, and Johnny) for murder, under IPC Section 302. They were sentenced to life imprisonment.
