There is a place you can come to where everything is beautiful. Tourists go from place to place looking for beauty. They try to take beauty from that place. They only get tired and tanned! Yet the most beautiful spot anywhere is right here! Where is this place? Don’t look here and there. It’s within you! When you come here, then any place is beautiful. And wherever you go, you add beauty there.
If you are unhappy, even the moon can irritate you, and sweet music can feel nauseating. But when you are centred, even noise becomes musical, clouds magical, and rain feels like liquid sunshine. Book yourself on a trip to this most beautiful place in the universe. Then every day becomes a vacation, a celebration.
Most people rarely find time for themselves and forget their own presence. Once, ten people were crossing a river. Reaching the other side, they wanted to make sure everyone had crossed. When they counted, there were only nine. Why did this happen? They forgot to count themselves. A wise man helped them realise, “You are the tenth!” Similarly, the five senses and four inner faculties—mind, intellect, memory, and ego—lose sight of the Self. The Guru shows you: “You are the tenth!” The joy lies in rediscovering the ever-present.
Often, people identify the Self with the mind-body complex. But the Self is neither. The body’s true purpose is to help you realise your own beauty and to live the values you cherish, creating a divine atmosphere around you. Like birds returning to their nests, keep coming back to your source. Only there can you recognise that you host the creator.
Among all beings, humans are most privileged, for they can host knowledge. But those who don’t realise this privilege host negativity instead. When the body is stimulated, pleasure arises, and when the soul is stimulated, love rises. Pleasure ends; love is eternal. Taste stimulates the tongue, music the ears, and beauty the eyes, but it is sadhana and satsang that stimulate the soul.
All that one seeks in life is really this. Every other stimulus is shallow and tiring. But stimulating the soul energises you. And every such experience should lead you to the Self.
