When to Avoid Shaving Pubic Hair: Nowadays, personal hygiene is not just a necessity but has become a trend. Especially among women, awareness about the intimate area has increased rapidly. Most girls and women prefer shaving, trimming, or waxing to keep pubic hair clean and hair-free. Shaving is indeed an easy and fast method, but it is not right to do it every time. Experts believe that pubic hair acts as a protective shield for our body. It not only protects against bacterial and fungal infections, but also reduces skin friction.

According to a report by the Cleveland Clinic, pubic hair protects the skin from infection, fungal growth, and friction. The report says that special attention should be paid to skin condition, hygiene, and tools used before shaving; otherwise, irritation, rash, and even bacterial infection can occur.
So if you are also in the habit of shaving regularly, then definitely take note of these conditions, because shaving pubic hair in these conditions can be dangerous.
Any infection is already happening-
If you have any problem with yeast infection, bacterial vaginosis, or skin allergy in the vagina, then do not shave at all during this time. The skin is already sensitive, and in such a situation, cuts or increased redness are common.
Just before sex-
Many women shave before physical relations for a clean feel, but doing so can be risky for your skin. Pubic hair protects from friction during sex and also protects from STDs to some extent. If cuts occur on the shaved skin, then the risk of infection increases manifold.
During periods-
During periods, the skin of the body is more sensitive than before. If you shave during this time, coming into contact with the pads can cause problems like irritation or rashes. It is better to avoid shaving at this time.
Just before a workout or cycling-
If you go to the gym regularly or cycling is a part of your daily routine, then do not do these activities immediately after shaving. Sweat and skin rubbing can irritate, burning or redness on the shaved skin. In such a situation, keep a gap of at least 2–4 days between shaving and workout.
Follow these safety tips for shaving pubic hair:
-Use a new, clean and sharp razor every time.
-Wash the skin with lukewarm water before shaving, so that the pores open.
-Do not apply perfume or chemical products at all.
-Do not wear tight undergarments immediately after shaving.
-If there is redness or itching on the skin, consult a dermatologist immediately.
