The current season of IPL 2025 has reached an exciting turn. The league stage is over and the playoffs will start from Thursday. Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have entered Qualifier-1 by finishing in the top two, while Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians finished third and fourth respectively in the points table. Now the eliminator match will be played between the two on May 30. The initial round of 70 matches of IPL took a total of 67 days to finish, including a 10-day break due to India-Pakistan tension. Before that, let's take a look at those special moments which are etched in everyone's mind. Let's see the ups and downs of this season...

Youth spread their shine.
Like every time, the youth stole the show in this season too. 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who debuted for Rajasthan Royals, created history by scoring a century in 35 balls. He holds the record for the fastest century in IPL. Apart from this, he also became the youngest Indian player to score the second-fastest century ever. Apart from Bihar's Lal Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Chennai Super Kings' Ayush Mhatre was also no less. He also gave Chennai a chance to smile with his innings. This list also includes Punjab Kings' uncapped batsman Priyansh Arya, who scored his first IPL century. Punjab's Prabhsimran Singh was also not behind, he also demonstrated his skills well.
Hyderabad started with the second-highest score and ended the season with the third-highest score.
IPL 2024 runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad came out with the most dangerous batting lineup and the team also started aggressively. However, the team could not maintain it. Their batsmen failed to repeat their previous performance. Hyderabad started the season with a match against Rajasthan and scored the second-highest score of 286 runs for six wickets. At the same time, the team ended IPL 2025 by scoring the third-highest score of 278 runs for three wickets against defending champions KKR.
Chennai Super Kings learned a lesson.
Five-time winners Chennai Super Kings relied on experienced players like Mahendra Singh, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin, but by the end of the season they had to abandon this strategy and were forced to give a chance to the young talents sitting on the bench. The most successful example of this is 17-year-old Mumbai batsman Ayush Mhatre. He performed well despite the team's problems while South Africa's Dewald Brevis performed brilliantly in the end. 20-year-old Noor Ahmed of Afghanistan was CSK's most successful spinner while Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja did not prove to be as effective.
Sai Sudarshan stole the show.
Gujarat Titans' young batsman Sai Sudarshan performed brilliantly this season. He showed that runs can be scored even without taking risks. Sudarshan is at the top of the Orange Cap race by scoring 679 runs so far. Interestingly, the left-handed batsman also got rewarded for his performance. He was included in the Test team by the Indian selectors for the England tour.
Mumbai Indians surprised again.
As always, once again Mumbai Indians managed to surprise the fans. After a bad start to the season, the team made a strong comeback and made it to the playoffs. After starting with four losses in the first five matches, Hardik Pandya's team reached the top teams by winning the next six matches. Rohit Sharma and Tilak Verma could not perform well but Suryakumar Yadav showed why he is the best in it. He is third in the Orange Cap race with 640 runs. Jasprit Bumrah has taken 17 wickets in 10 matches.
Rajasthan Royals players could not coordinate
This season was simply bad for Rajasthan Royals. Their players could not coordinate. Despite a good start in the match, their middle order was not able to maintain it. This is the reason why the balance of the team appeared to be quite disturbed.
Punjab's 'lions' roared.
Captain Shreyas Iyer's performance in the last year has proved that he has been the architect of the change in a team that was always struggling. With a determined Iyer and a coach like Australian Ricky Ponting, there was no doubt that PBKS would be very difficult to beat and a performance like defending the lowest score (111 runs) against KKR is an example of this.
Delhi derailed after a great start.
At the start of the IPL, it seemed that the team would not make any mistakes but the team lagged in terms of consistent performance. The team was at the top of the table after starting with five wins out of the first six but a sudden decline led to losing five out of the next eight matches.
KKR's performance was poor, but Rahane stood firm
Captain Ajinkya Rahane stood single-handedly, but the season was very bad for the franchise's most expensive player and vice-captain Venkatesh Iyer. With five losses in the first eight matches, the playoff race for the defending champions was over long ago.
Marsh and Pooran maintained dominance.
Five wins in the first eight matches gave Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) a chance to make it to the last four, but Pant's poor performance with the bat, lack of depth in the middle order, and lack of variety in bowling saw them miss the playoffs again. But Mitchell Marsh, Nicholas Pooran, and Aiden Markram strengthened them. Let us tell you that Pant, who was struggling to score runs this season, returned to form by scoring a century against RCB. He completed the second century of his IPL career in 54 balls. He remained unbeaten after scoring 118 runs in 61 balls with the help of 11 fours and eight sixes

Bangalore made it to the top two for the first time since 2016
On the back of Virat Kohli's half-century and a century partnership between Jitesh Sharma and Mayank Agarwal, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by six wickets. With this win, RCB reached Qualifier-1. Now it will face Punjab Kings on 29 May in Mullanpur. This is RCB's seventh win away from home. With this, this team has created history. RCB became the first IPL team to do so. At the beginning of the season, RCB defeated defending champions Kolkata at their home. After this, Chennai Super Kings were defeated in Chennai, Mumbai Indians in Mumbai, Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur, Punjab Kings in New Chandigarh and Delhi Capitals in Delhi.
