The wait for IPL to begin again might continue as rain is predicted to play a role in Saturday's match at Bengaluru. IPL is set to resume with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) host Kolkata Knight Riders at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium after a week's pause due to the escalated tension between India and Pakistan.
Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka have been receiving heavy showers in recent days. It has been a damp week in Bengaluru and there are strong chances of that continuing into Saturday evening’s game.
As per AccuWeather’s forecast for Saturday, the chances of rain increase in the afternoon and peaks right at toss time at 7 pm.
A 25% chance of rain is expected at 1 pm, but that number begins to go up to 58% at 5 pm. It further increases to 71% at 7 pm.
The odds of rain start dropping at night. While this does still mean that there is a 49% chance of rain at 9 PM and 34% following that, it provides a window for some sort of action. It helps that Bengaluru has a sub-air system, which gets the ground ready for play within 10 minutes.
RCB fans will not be happy with the forecast as a large-scale tribute to Virat Kohli’s Test career has been planned in the stands. Moreover, the team will officially qualify for the playoffs with a win today.
KKR have already been involved in a complete washout earlier in the tournament, splitting points with Punjab Kings at the Eden Gardens after only a single over of their run-chase was played before rain forced the match to be abandoned.
