Today, she is one of the wealthiest Indian celebrities; however, Sunny Leone learned at a very young age that money did not grow on trees. In a candid conversation with Pink Villa, the ‘Jism 2’ star said that she learned to hustle to earn money from a very young age.
Leone said that as a youngster, she became a door-to-door sales executive. “ Jab main chhoti thi, I would go door-to-door selling something.” She added, “ Jo bhi kar sakti thi paise kamane ke liye, main woh karti thi, at a very young age. Itna paisa nahi milta tha.” (I used to be a door-to-door sales professional when I was a kid and didn’t get paid much.)
As per reports, Leone worked various jobs before making her debut as an adult film star. She held positions at a German bakery, a lube store, and a tax and retirement firm.
In the same interview, Sunny recalled that she met her now husband, Daniel Weber, at a time when she was undergoing a huge personal crisis. She admitted experiencing huge emotional turmoil on losing both of her parents and how Weber helped her cope.
“She said, “When I met Daniel, my mother was passing away. So I met him in January, and my mother passed away in March. Toh uss short time mein (so, in that short time), something unimaginable happened in my life, so he was there to just pick up those pieces. Shortly after, six months later my father found out he had cancer, and he was also there to pick up those pieces. And not only for myself but also my brother, because it was just my brother and I,” she said.
She concluded that meeting a special someone at a time when you are at your lowest emotionally is very special, as you need someone who will be there and assure you it’s okay.
As per an Economic Times article, Leone’s net worth in 2024 was a spectacular Rs 98 crore. She charges Rs 2-3 crore per film.
In 2012, she entered the Hindi film industry with her first appearance in Jism 2, an erotic thriller directed by Pooja Bhatt. From that point onward, she began concentrating on building a career in commercial cinema. This transition was marked by a series of releases, starting with Jackpot in 2013, followed by the horror-themed Ragini MMS 2 in 2014, the musical mystery Ek Paheli Leela in 2015, and the romantic drama Tera Intezaar in 2017. She also expanded into regional cinema with her first Malayalam-language film, Madhura Raja, which was released in 2019.
She is now preparing for her debut in the Malayalam industry, popularly known as Mollywood, with the upcoming film Rangeela. In addition to that, she has also signed another Malayalam project titled Shero. Apart from her work in the South Indian film industry, she will also be seen in a Hindi-language movie named Helen.
