Cyber criminals are cheating people in new ways. You can be cheated even without an OTP and a card. One such recent case of cyber fraud has come to light, in which the victim's account was emptied.
A case of cyber fraud has come to light, in which money can be withdrawn from your account even without OTP and card. Criminals find new ways to cheat people, and common people do not even know. One such case has come to light from Jharkhand, where 10 thousand rupees were withdrawn from the account of an elderly woman.
According to the report, in the name of getting the benefit of the PM Kisan Yojana in Garhwa district of Jharkhand, the fraudsters scanned the woman's eyes and withdrew about 10 thousand rupees from the account. When the woman reached to withdraw money from her bank account the next day, she came to know that money had been withdrawn from her account.
How did the fraud happen?
Nowadays all bank accounts are linked to your Aadhaar card. With Aadhaar card linked, anyone can withdraw money from their account through biometric (fingerprint or iris) scan. However, a limit has been set by the banks in this. The thugs cheated the woman in the name of Kisan Yojana. They found out the bank account from her Aadhaar number and then without the woman knowing, they scanned her eyes and withdrew money from the account.
How to avoid?
Your vigilance is very important to avoid any fraud. Do not give your personal documents, especially Aadhaar card, to anyone. If there is a need to give Aadhaar card somewhere, then you should use the virtual Aadhaar number. For this, you have to go to the UIDAI website and issue a virtual Aadhaar number. Also, you can lock the biometric of your card. However, in such a situation, you will have to unlock the biometric when needed. After this, it will have to be locked again.
Also, you do not have to fall into any greed. Cyber criminals cheat people by doing social engineering with them. People are lured in the name of prizes, gifts, government schemes etc. and then they are cheated.
