In an interview with Sky Sports, he said: "I'll correct myself - I don't usually win things, I always win things in my second year. Nothing's changed. I've said it now. I don't say things unless I believe them."
The clip of Postecoglou's prediction continued to do the rounds in anticipation of Spurs' Europa League final with United and after lifting the trophy in Spain, it re-emerged.

Sky Sports posted the clip on their socials with an edited version of the Spurs boss walking with Sky Sports' post-match graphic of the win. , in the early hours of Thursday morning, shared the post on his personal Instagram story, writing: "Sorry but u gotta respect it *three laughing face emojis* *three saluting face emojis*."
Postecoglou explained his vow to win a trophy this season in his post-match press conference. “People misinterpreted me,” he told reporters.
“It was not me boasting, just me making a declaration and I believed it. I had this thing inside me more than anything else.
“I know our league form has been unacceptable, but coming third was not going to change this football club, winning a trophy would, that was my ambition and I was prepared to wear it if it did not happen.
“People kept reminding me of it because we were getting closer but I'm happy with that.”
