Send Push

Arsenal have now made three summer signings with their latest confirmed this Thursday lunchtime and no sign they will slow down.

Joining Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi is Christian Norgaard. The 31-year-old signs from Brentford with 122 Premier League appearances to his name, helping to plug the gap left when Jorginho and Thomas Partey departed after the end of last season.

With £10m spent up from with a potential £2m in add-ons to pay, the Denmark international's arrival takes Arsenal's expenditure for the summer of 2025 to £72m.

That is without making any of the attacking signings Mikel Arteta has so eagerly awaited and that the club have been working towards throughout getting their other business concluded.

With that, football.london analyses the latest transfer headlines looking towards the next steps the Gunners can take in the transfer market.

Eberechi Eze boost

Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze has emerged as a possible signing for Arsenal this summer.

As it turns out the Gunners may be able to secure a huge boost towards grabbing the England international and it could be sparked by fierce rivals Manchester City, of all clubs.

Sky Sports believe Pep Guardiola and Co. have attracted interest from Palace in their talent James McAtee, who was left out of their FIFA Club World Cup squad to play for the Three Lions at the Under-21 European Championships with a move always possible this summer.

The 22-year-old, like Eze, is comfortable as an attacking midfielder or winger, so his arrival at Selhurst Park may make it easier for them to sell their star man.

football.london says: There are a lot of moving pieces to this puzzle and McAtee joining Palace would certainly be a majorly positive one. A replacement already through the door could make Eze's sale easier to sanction. Still, the world awaits the verdict on the Eagles' place in next season's Europa League. Lyon's relegation from Ligue 1 has not been upheld meaning they're likely to stay in the Europa League and Palace's place is under threat because of multi-club ownership rules. Players like Eze dreaming to compete at a higher level might seek moves away - we shall see.

Viktor Gyokeres twist

Portuguese outlet A Bola would suggest that Arsenal are about to take a step back in their pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres.

The height of negotiations was last weekend but Andrea Berta was unable to come an arrangement with Sporting CP counterparts.

They suggest both clubs agree on the fact a deal will be €80m (£69m) overall, but then it comes down to how that is structured. The Gunners have offered up €65m (£56m) fixed plus €15m (£12.9m) in add-ons, whereas Sporting want €70m (£60m) fixed and €10m (£8.6m) add-ons.

football.london says: Whilst the figures match up, our latest understanding was that talks were continuing beyond the weekend as Arsenal have narrowed down their search for a striker to just the one. Reports from Portugal also suggest Gyokeres has no intention of returning to training tomorrow as he has been instructed, so there is no way this saga just ends so abruptly. There is more to be said.
