Send Push

Chelsea transfer target Alejandro Garnacho has provided his clearest indication yet regarding his future as speculation continues regarding a departure from Manchester United.

Earlier this summer, United manager Ruben Amorim informed Garnacho he was welcome to seek a new club during the forthcoming transfer window, after the Argentine expressed frustration about his restricted playing time in the Europa League final.

Besides Chelsea, Napoli have also been heavily linked with the Argentina international.

Garnacho, no longer in Amorim's plans, has been absent from all pre-season first-team sessions whilst his future remains unresolved. The 21-year-old, who is understood to be eager to remain in the Premier League, has suggested his favoured destination through social media activity.

On Saturday evening, Fabrizio Romano posted an Instagram update regarding Chelsea, stating the West London outfit intend to pursue both Garnacho and Xavi Simons. Garnacho liked the post.

" rel="Follow" target="_self">On social media platform X, Romano disclosed that Garnacho has granted 'total priority' to Chelsea after preliminary discussions. Nevertheless, formal negotiations are yet to commence, with Chelsea concentrating on departures and the signing of Xavi Simons.

Speaking about the situation, United boss Amorim said: "I think Garnacho, you can understand and you can see, he's talented, he's a really talented boy. And sometimes things don't work out. You cannot explain specifically what it is.

"But I have the feeling, I think it's clear that Garnacho wants a different thing with a different leadership. And I can understand that. So I think it's not a problem.

"Sometimes you adapt to one guy, you have the connection. Other times, you want a new challenge. So, we try to make everything okay to all the parts. To the club, to the coach and to the players. So, it's a natural thing in football."

Whilst United have previously placed his value at approximately Ā£60–70million, it's widely understood that an offer around Ā£45m could prove sufficient to finalise a transfer.
